[CBC뉴스] 영국에서 가장 큰 동물원인 휩스나드에는 6피트 높이의 새로운 기린이 무리 속에 합류했다.

영국이 화이저의 COVID-19 백신 접종을 시작하자마자 태어난 이 암컷 새끼 기린는 이 백신을 최초로 접종한 마가렛 키넌을 기리기 위해 마가렛으로 명명되었다.

The UK's largest zoo, Whipsnade, welcomed a new six-foot-tall arrival arrival into its giraffe herd on Tuesday (December 8).

Born on the same day as the UK started its rollout of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccination, the female calf has been named Margaret, in honour of Margaret Keenan, the first person to receive the vaccine.

Giraffes are officially classified as endangered in the wild, meaning Margaret's birth is of special significance for the species.

The baby took her first steps within hours of being born, and received a licking from her mother and fellow giraffes.

Carers for the giraffe describe her birth as a ray of hope in a challenging year and say the youngster is doing well.
