상파울루 시에서 열린 루미나 축제가 대표적인 예다. 이번 행사는 전염병 기간 동안 집에 갇혀있던 지역민들에게 계절의 불꽃을 가져다 줬다. 주최측은 개인 승용차에서 안전하게 볼 수 있는 정교한 크리스마스 장식과 반짝이는 불빛을 설치해 눈길을 끌었다.

All may not be calm in 2020 but some things are still bright this Christmas in Brazil.

In the city of Sao Paulo, the Luminna Festival is bringing the spark of the season to locals who were otherwise stuck at home during the pandemic. Organisers installed elaborate Christmas decorations and glittering lights that can be viewed from the safety of a private car.

For those passing by for a glimpse of Christmas from their cars, the results are delightful, but also bittersweet.

Millions of Brazilians are preparing for a very different Christmas this year, with many cities also cancelling traditional New Year's Eve fireworks festivities.

As of Saturday (December 5), Brazil has registered more than 6.5 million cases of coronavirus and over 176,000 deaths.
