[김현진 기자] 방탄소년단(BTS) 멤버 슈가가 6일 오후 11시 경 용산구 한남동 거리에서 음주 상태로 전동 스쿠터를 타다 넘어진 채로 발견돤 바 있다. 혈중알코올농도가 면허 취소인 0.08%가 넘어 범칙금과 면허 취소 처분을 받았다고 한다.

하지만 더 큰 논란은 전동 킥보드가 아닌 것을 운전한 것으로부터 나왔다. 도로를 달리던 슈가가 전동스쿠터로 추정되는 것을 타고 cctv로 공개됐기 때문이다. 이에 대해 소속사는 다시 해명했다.

빅히트 뮤직은 "방탄소년단 멤버 슈가와 관련해 추가 입장을 말씀드립니다."라고 밝혔다. 빅히트 측은 "당사에서는 아티스트가 이용한 제품을 안장이 달린 형태의 킥보드라고 판단해 '전동 킥보드'라고 설명드렸습니다. 추가 확인 과정에서 제품의 성능과 사양에 따라 분류가 달라지고, 사고에 대한 책임 범위도 달라질 수 있음을 인지하게 되었습니다. 일각에서 말씀하시는 바와 같이 사안을 축소하려는 의도는 전혀 없었습니다"라고 해명하기도 했다.

한편 방탄소년단은 8월 네티즌 어워즈 최고그룹상 11위에 올라있다. 8일 오전 9시 23분 현재 76득표를 했다.

BTS member Suga was found riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol on the streets of Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, around 11 PM on the 6th. His blood alcohol content exceeded 0.08%, the level for license revocation, resulting in a fine and the cancellation of his license.

The controversy intensified when it was revealed that Suga was riding something other than an electric kickboard. CCTV footage showed Suga riding what appeared to be an electric scooter on the road. The agency has since clarified the situation.

Big Hit Music stated, "We would like to provide an additional statement regarding BTS member Suga." The agency explained, "We initially described the product used by the artist as an 'electric kickboard' because we assessed it to be a kickboard with a seat. Upon further review, we realized that the classification might differ based on the product's specifications and performance, which could also change the scope of responsibility for the incident. We had no intention of downplaying the matter."

Meanwhile, BTS is ranked 11th for Best Group in the August Netizens Awards. As of 9:23 AM on the 8th, they have received 76 votes.
